Lex in the City: Thrift Tour Guide to Burbank: Magnolia Village

Burbank doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Magnolia Blvd is one of the most walkable thrift strips in all of LA — a concentrated cluster of vintage boutiques, charity shops, and curated consignment stores within literal blocks of each other. You can park once and hit most of them on foot.

The energy here is different from Silver Lake — less scenester, more genuine. These are shops run by people who clearly love what they do, with loyal local regulars and inventory that ranges from budget thrift to well-priced vintage Western and 70s pieces. Great day trip if you want easy parking and a low-pressure browse.

Fuel Up Before (or After) You Shop

Magnolia Blvd takes care of you on the food and coffee front too. Romancing the Bean (3413 Magnolia Blvd) is basically the unofficial thrifter’s rest stop — a cozy, charming cafe tucked right in among the vintage boutiques, with smoothies, sandwiches, and sweet treats. Reviewers literally describe it as “my go-to place when I need a break from vintage shopping,” which feels very on-brand. Blvd Cafecito (3210 Magnolia Blvd) is the neighborhood’s Latin-leaning coffee spot with a strong breakfast burrito game and horchata lattes — worth a stop if you’re fueling up before the shops open. For something a little more sit-down, The New Deal (3501 Magnolia Blvd) does a wine bar meets American comfort food thing that works really well for a post-haul lunch — the fried chicken sandwich has a devoted local following. The whole street is walkable enough that you can thrift, refuel, and thrift some more without ever moving your car. That alone is worth the trip.
